The Best Bloggers Are Left Handed

** UPDATE ** 24th February 2008
7% of people visiting this page will be shocked. The left-handed in other words. You see since I invited comments, the best one by far is by someone right-handed. I have repeated her comment at the end of this post for your convenience. In the meantime, here's the original post...
Wikipedia refers to an association between left-handedness and creativity.
A 1998 study suggested that between 7 and 10% of the world population is left handed.
So does that hold true in the real world?
The evidence seemed a bit flimsy to me. And it appears more anecdotal.
So do left-handed bloggers produce better content?
Is there any research to suggest using your left hand can force you to exercise those creative parts of your brain?
In Britain in the 18th and 19th century there was a social stigma associated with left-handedness. It was essentially "beaten out" of people.
The poor lefties were forced to use their right hands. Did this cause a wave of stupidity?
Allegedly, left-handed people earn more than right handed.
That Sounds Like Nonsense Doesn't It? I Agreed Until I Read Wikipedia:
"In his book Right-Hand, Left-Hand, Chris McManus of University College London , argues that the proportion of left-handers is rising and left-handed people as a group have historically produced an above-average quota of high achievers. He says that left-handers' brains are structured differently in a way that widens their range of abilities, and the genes that determine left-handedness also govern development of the language centers of the brain.
McManus also says that the increase in the 20th century of people identifying as left-handed could produce a corresponding intellectual advance and a leap in the number of mathematical, sporting, or artistic geniuses.
In 2006, researchers at Lafayette College and Johns Hopkins University in a study found that left-handed men are 15 percent richer than right-handed men for those who attended college, and 26 percent richer if they graduated. The wage difference is still unexplainable and does not appear to apply to women."
Personally, I think it's a load of tosh. But as a kind of straw poll, please leave a comment to tell us which hand you use and whether you've noticed if left-handers are more intelligent or creative.
Or even if you think those Nintendo gadgets can help the afflicted right-handers get closer to the those gifted lefties.
Don't comment though and admit your right-handedness unless you're prepared to be judged (not from me by the way although I may take a peek!). From others - I bet you'll get a load of visitors checking out your blog to see if your stuff is any good!
And if you are left-handed, I look forward to the intelligence, wit and creativity that will flow through your prosaic words!
P.S. If you don't have a blog, still feel free to comment and tell me I'm right or wrong (anonymously or otherwise because that's what blogs are about! Sharing your opinions).
Underneath this article is a "Comment" link. After you hit that you're on the comments page. Choose "Nickname", then use an alias or your real name together with your email address (I never share that with anyone - left or right handed) and your web-site (if you have one and want people to find it)
** As Promised - Here's The Current Winner For The Best Comment **
It's from Mrs Micah: Finance For A Freelance Life. Despite being right-handed, she was able to come up with the best comment so far. Her excellent "reading between the lines" puts her above the inflamatory comments from some of the right-handed brigade...

I am a lefty, but not a blogger, so I can't help you there. My mom and daughter are both south-paws, too. All three of us are very creative...involved in music, art, gardening, quilting, home-improvement, writing, etc.
Another bit of support I've heard somewhere: Lefties tend to be better at using both sides of their brains, while righties tend to be more left-brain dominant.
Here's a link that supports what you read on wikipedia: http://www.lefthander.com/being.htm
But just so right-handers feel better about all this, lefties have a shorter average life-span than righties. This is due to the fact that the world is designed for right-handed use, making the world slightly more dangerous for left-handers. Most tools, for instance, have their controls in a position that is convenient and safe for a right-handed person--making them inconvenient and unsafe for a leftie!
Cars are more dangerous for south-paws, too. For one thing, all the controls are designed for right-handed use. But even more of an issue is a higher rate of accidents because of hand-dominance. To avoid a collision, a driver instinctively pulls to his/her dominant side. therefore, a right-handed driver would pull to the right and onto the shoulder. A leftie, however, would instinctively pull to the right and into oncoming traffic.
I won't even mention the annoyances: the ink coating on the side of my hand when writing, scissors that never work right for me, always having to arrange for a corner at the table where I won't be bumping into a rightie...wait, I said I wasn't going to mention those things!
ugh...a leftie pulls to the left...all this right/left confusion!
Michelle,
Thanks for visiting and sharing that with us.
I can empathise with the ink! I loved fountain pens, but had to give them up.
I have heard the issue about dying younger! I don't know what category I fall into as I only write left-handed, and I'm right-footed playing soccer.
For some reason I use my right hand on a chalk-board.
Basically I'm screwed up!
Which is probably why I thought about the topic in the first place!
You posted in between - thanks for the correction. Wouldn't want anyone crashing now or re-training their brains to do the wrong thing.
We nearly caused some car crashes there!
Very interesting, Ian. I knew left-handers were much more likely to become astronauts, but I never thought about whether they'd have an advantage in blogging. Why don't you suggest that Darren Rowse run a survey on ProBlogger about this?
As you know, I'm a leftie. Aside from Nintendo, tollbooths, and the QWERTY keyboard, it seems the world is largely against us. So if left-handedness wants to help me blog, I would certainly welcome that.
Hi Ian,
This is an interesting topic.
I'm right handed, but also have a creative side.
Seems like I also read somewhere, that different types of activities engage the left and right side of the brain.
Hi Ian - this is an interesting post - but I'm right handed, so I think it sucks.
What about ambidextrous people then? Would they be even smarter cos they can use both hands?
Wikipedia is such a reliable source this must be true. Oh yeah, isn't that the site where anyone can write what they want and no one checks it? Isn't that the site where some guy without a job claimed to be a professor and put all kinds of "facts" on Wikipedia that weren't true? Not saying lefties aren't creative, but I'd like a better source. I'm right handed but I think I've got some creativity and my daughter is very creative (also a righty). Since the majority of people in the world are right-handed, I'm guessing a few of us are just a little bit creative. It was fun to read, though. :)
Hunter,
Being left-handed, I always wondered why I felt as though I;d be suited for space exploration. Perhaps I did that here!
Barbara,
I can vouch for your amazing creativity! It's a fun topic though. Hope it didn't offend.
Cath,
What a fantastic idea that was - offending 90-93% of the world's population! I'd write a detailed apology, but my left hand's hurting a little from some unexplained twinges. Perhaps I'm tuning into the radio waves I talked about in an earlier post from around the world.
Debs,
I really do feel sorry for right handed people. My left-handed ancestors were ridiculed and social outcasts.
I was hoping for more tolerance of our superior creativity. How can we still be hounded so in this day and age just because we're paid 15% more and have to bear this cross of superiority?
Give us lefties a chance!
*cries* I'll never be a good blogger. I might as well give up now.
As a kid, I actually worked on become ambidextrous. My sister had to do it after she broke her right thumb, so I got interested. Plus my dad is a lefty. And I eat European-style with the fork in my left hand...mostly because my Danish uncle taught me all kinds of table manners for my trip to Denmark (like proper positioning of utensils on the plate to signal whether I wanted seconds...it's cook stuff).
All things considered, I'm definitely ambidextrose---I can eat sweets with both hands!!
I'm trying to decide if this post was being sarcastic or not, but I'm leaning on the latter.
It was an interesting post, glad you had some research to back it up, but honestly, do you really think this applies to EVERYONE?
I'm right handed, by the way. And I agree that some lefties tend to be more creative than righties, but can't that be said for the other way around? As great as that research is, it doesn't apply to everyone, and that's where my complaint is.
I wasn't very impressed with the few subjective comments you made in between the research, and in your reply comments. This is one of the quotes from the article, "And if you are left-handed, I look forward to the intelligence, wit and creativity that will flow through your prosaic words!". This was the one that bordered on what I thought might have been sarcastic, but because of your replies to comments and the rest of the article, I sadly, had to admit you were being completely serious. I find this kind of offensive, because to me, it seemed like you were saying that all lefties should have blogs and they would all, obviously, be brilliant and groundbreaking. I know plenty of brilliant right-handed bloggers, so your obvious bias made me a little annoyed.
You're a good blogger; maybe you use a little too many numbers and not enough actual writing, but you're definitely intelligent. But I don't think that it's fair when you make such an obvious bias to a majority of the world when it's just as possible that a right handed person can be more creative than a left handed one.
I have nothing wrong with the research, or the overall idea, I just don't like the bias. In my opinion, a blogger should attempt to stay objective, because then the results and the writing isn't sullied with partiality.
Mrs Micah,
You win the prize for the most insightful comment so far. You got it. For displaying amazing intelligence, despite being right-handed and reading between the lines, you are officially my right-handed commenter of the week!
It just goes to show that right-handed people can really get up there on the sam plateau as us lefties!
Please have some extra sugar-based treats from either hand as a reward.
As for the other commenter...here goes...
Bri,
You raise some serious points. And I think your answer should be treated with an equally sombre and considered response (chuckle!).
I fear I have displayed intolerance in my answer. I do agree that the right-handed community has created an amazing contribution to this planet.
The intolerance is therefore unjustified. Without right-handed people, us poor improverished lefties would never have the experience of discovering right-handed implements to exercise that part of our brain that encourages dull thought.
Us lefties must use our superiority and practice humble tolerance of our right-handed cousins. We must help them along as we have secretly done throughout the centuries, despite the fact at times we have been down-trodden and ridiculed.
Our as yet unrevealed collaboration throughout the ages has been a necessary secret.
We have had to drag the afflicted right-handers, kicking and screaming through the centuries to a point where we have now reached a point of acceptance.
That secret did once slip out in the UK in the 18th and 19th century, and we saw the reaction. An amazing jealousy manifested itself as a virus of hatred spread unfettered throughout.
We humbly accepted and forgave those who persecuted us.
And now, as the 20th and 21st century has seen an abondonment of intolerance, we are here revealed.
Modern science has shown us how we can use the correct side of the brain to benefit as lefties were gifted to do naturally.
At last, we can all walk the earth as equals.
I hope you can find it within yourself to forgive like we have.
Because I use both my left and right hand, I can only humbly ask for your forgiveness. Because I'm wired up all wrong, both left and right-handed tendencies slip out and get a little confused at times.
Hence the contradictions you detected.
I welcome you back with both arms (equally and without bias).
Ian, I found this a very interesting post, as I have recently been researching left brain/right brain stuff.
Did you know that (apparently), women find it easier to multi-task and also to talk about emotions, because the two sides of their brain communicate better through a typically larger corpus callosum? (The Human Mind, Robert Winston, p68.)
I come from a family of right-handed people and we are all very creative in lots of different ways. But although I'm not entirely sure what defines a 'good' blog, I doubt mine would be considered as such ... it's very new and very scattered at the moment (still got lots to learn!)
Thank you for the food for thought. I didn't find your post intolerant, a little biased maybe, but expressed in subtle humour, I found it funny rather than offensive. And I think the whole point of blogging is that it IS personal. It seems to me that blog posts are, by definition, a personal perspective of the individual who writes them.
(Perhaps this is where I am going wrong!)
Michelle's comment about driving worries me a bit ... seeing as I live in the UK and we drive on the left!
:o)
Moondreamer,
I wouldn't worry about meandering thoughts too much. My blog meanders all the time. It's a bit difficult continually talking about failure. Hence the post about being left-handed.
I wouldn't worry in the slightest about being right-handed.
In fact, being a right-handed female blogger is allegedly the most powerful combination.
I suffer form being male, and neither left nor right-handed. So I am cursed forever. Well at least until my early death for being left-handed, and obscurity for my lack of creativity as I use the PC right-handed.
Yay! I win. I'm off to get my chocolate. My method: use whichever hand is unencumbered or closest. Musn't allow it to escape. ;)
Hi Ian. I love the controversial title.
Growing up, I remember hearing something about being right-handed or left-handed depending on being right or left brained. It criss-crosses so left-handed people are right-brained and supposedly more creative.
But I think that creativity is like a muscle that can be strengthened with exercise. The more you work on creative tasks, the more creative you will be.
Mrs Micah,
A worthy winner who really knows how to celebrate.
Sterling,
Of course you're right - creativity is increasing prevalent in the right-handed community.
As a left hander who is thinking about starting a blog, your article gave me much encouragement(!)
It's not surprising that southpaws tend to be more creative. The left-hand side of the brain – the dominant half for right handers – is the verbal, analytical side. The right-hand side – the dominant half for left handers – is the spatial visual side.
Someone who is believed to have used both sides of his brain equally was Leonardo da Vinci. He was both a genius scientist and engineer, as well as a highly talented artist and sculptor. He was one of those rare individuals who fused logic, fact and reason with emotion, intuition and abstract thinking. Not surprisingly, for someone who used both sides of his brain, he was also ambidextrous.
Oh my god, you are incredibly stubbornly biased, and without any real data! Wikipedia as a source? Anybody serious about research knows to throw Wiki out almost right away - anybody can edit it. This includes left-hand dominance fantatics.
South paws have most certainly not happened to "help them (right-handers) along as we (lefties) have secretly done throughout the centuries." That's completely biased, not backed up, and anything but reliable.
"Afflicted" right-handers? Afflicted? Right-hand dominance is no affliction, I assure you. I am right handed myself, with more mental capacity for logic and creativity than just about any lefty I know. It has NOTHING to do with hand dominance - creativity, like most things in the area of thought, is determined by experience and practice. Not which freaking hand you write with.
Best comment? What a load of crap. The comment you choose to display as "best" isn't well written, and it completely submits to south paw "superiority." Coincidence? Why do I doubt it? If you're going to pick a best right-hander comment, Bri's is the clear choice.
@Michelle - South paws living shorter lives because of freaking right handed tools? Death by inconvenient POWER TOOL is NOT going to make a significant difference.
Maybe if you adament "south paw supremists" would just let go of your freaking confirmation bias for ten seconds, you'd see that handedness makes no difference.
And yes, I compared you to the white supremists that the KKK was famous for. No mistake. You sound just like them sometimes.
Besides your confirmation bias, stop hiding in your little rationalization defense mechanism and expose your egos to a little truth. Your rationalizations don't hold water.
Rebuttal?
Bob,
Thanks for your thoughts. Of course you're right. Bri's in the best right-handed comment.
If I'm correct, and you're right-handed, I'm afraid you don't win on this occasion.
Some right-handed people, and admitedly left-handed people too have a dreadful habit of reading what they want to read.
Unfortunately, some people don't have a finely-tuned sense of humour and can miss obvious give-aways, such as irony, self-deprecation and comments so completely outlandish and unjustifiable that they move into a zone some would describe as humour.
I'm really sorry you didn't see it that way.
Let me guess - are you right-handed? I'd love to know, because I can't tell from your comments.
Darn! Ian beat me to the punch!
Bob, your comment about "south paw supremicists" had me literally laughing out loud. I challenge you to find any lefty that truly considers themselves either superior to righties or discriminated against. As for the sense of superiority, we're only enjoying the possibility. And the problems? Most of us learned to cope with the inconveniences by 2nd grade.
Lefties DO tend to be more accident prone. Try holding a pair of normal scissors in your left hand, and you'll see what I mean. They are designed to fit a right hand, which means they won't move correctly for a lefty. Now imagine that same discomfort in most tools If it is awkward, you aren't using it right, and you're more likely to have an accident, even if you adapt the way you use the tool to the point you aren't even aware of the discomfort.
No one here says that lefties are creative and righties aren't. South-paws have a greater TENDENCY toward the creative pursuits because the left side of the body is controlled by the right side of the brain--the side that also controls creativity.
My GUESS is that this happens because the right side of the brain gets more action in a lefty, leading to a greater number of synapses on that side of the brain which leads to a greater sense of creativity. Right-handedness, on the other hand, is controlled by the left side of the brain--the side that controls logic and mathematical reasoning. Righties, then have a greater TENDENCY toward logic for the same reason. That means, of course, that lefties ARE the only ones in our right minds!
Don't be threatened by the idea of lefties taking over the creative world. Do the math. If there are only 7-10% of us in the world, and an even smaller percentage of us have truly been able to focus our tendency toward creativity, I doubt we are likely to take over the creative industries! If you are looking at sheer numbers, we're still vastly outnumbered in ANY field!
Now, we lefties DO rejoice when we find each other, but in the same way two Eagles fans living in Dallas would rejoice. It helps to find a kindred spirit!
@Ian -
You can't tell if I'm right-handed from my comment? I said outright I am. Excerpted from my original comment - "Right-hand dominance is no affliction, I assure you. I am right handed myself, with more mental capacity for logic and creativity than just about any lefty I know."
If I was reading what I wanted to read, I'd be reading that right-handers and left-handers are equal. Instead, I'm reading what you wrote, and it happens to carry the form of subtle left-handed propoganda. I'm not going to sugar coat my words.
Show me how your third to last paragraph applies here. Don't just type something and call it good - back it up.
@ms. c. -
Someone who thinks lefties are better? Look at the blog these comments are all in response to. Excerpted - "Or even if you think those Nintendo gadgets can help the afflicted right-handers get closer to the those gifted lefties."
With regards to an excerpt from my earlier comment - "Death by inconvenient POWER TOOL is NOT going to make a significant difference."
With regards to the creativity issue - Apparently you didn't notice but you express the difference to make it seem smaller, more believable. For God's sake, Ian thinks right-handers are "afflicted."
I'm not threatened by the idea of lefties taking over the world. It's an absurd concept. What I am afraid of is the idea of the world being run by narrow minded fools. That is a very real threat.
Rebuttal?
Bob,
Firstly, congratulations for coming back. It's a sign you are learning to use your more creative leanings by choosing to visit an excellent source of learning.
Again, I'll state (in a spirit of fairness) that right-handed individuals have put aside their deficiencies and made this a blog post worth frequenting.
And they have actually made some good points too.
And Bob, you did catch me out. Us creative lefthanders often have selective reading.
I did miss the fact you admitted to right-handedness.
But perhaps I've found something we have in common?
Did you notice that Mrs M was actually right-handed? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I sense you felt she was part of the exclusive left-handed club?
I gave the award because it made me laugh. And that proves that I believe that right-handers are creative too.
It certainly wasn't with the intention of awarding abitrarily the award to the best "left-handed" comment.
I am amazed to hear that I am guilty of left-handed propoganda. Apart from this single posting, I haven't spread my gospel anywhere else.
Mind you, I'm not left-handed, but you may not have picked up on that, what with you being a right-hander and therefore prone (like I am) to selective reading.
In terms of the third to lastr paragraph, I'll hapily answer any queries you have.
I have looked at the article and I'm guessing that you could be referring to the paragraph starting:
"In 2006, researchers..."
and ending "Or even...those gifted lefties"
Sandwiched in between, I clearly stated that I think it's a load of tosh.
Selective reading again? Or did you mean a different 3rd to 5th paragraph from one of my comments?
Either way, I rejoice in the fact that (humour alert) right handers are able to engage in such joyous interchanges with their left-handed bethren - sometimes almost as equals.
And poor Mrs C.
She made some really valid comments we should all cherish. Particularly as she is left-handed and she should be accorded some reverance and respect.
I may be mistaken (being a right/left handed person who is wired up a little incorrectly), but I thought I sensed a tone of acceptance of the right-handed community in her comments?
I was possibly mistaken.
Anyway, I thank you dearly for your valuable contribution to this essential topic.
Long may it continue to befuddle any passing visitors.
Bob - I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you. Mrs Micah's comment was the best one by far.
She has a degree in English and she's an excellent writer. Plus it was absolutely hilarious.
By choosing Bri - i think you're just being sexist. You've already admitted that you're left handed yourself - it's obvious you've just got it in for females who are right handed creative types. And I'm guessing it was the final straw for you when you realised Ian could do it with hands.
Ian - sorry I meant you could do it with both hands. Can you edit please? Ta.
I come only to this post, and only to debate on this topic.
I noticed Mrs. M is a righty, but she submits to the idea of lefty superiority.
I also noticed that you said you're wired weird with regards to hand dominance.
I was speaking of this paragraph from your previous comment - "Unfortunately, some people don't have a finely-tuned sense of humour and can miss obvious give-aways, such as irony, self-deprecation and comments so completely outlandish and unjustifiable that they move into a zone some would describe as humour."
cath -
Do you have ANY idea what you are talking about?
1. I've said THRICE NOW that I am a RIGHTY.
2. How is it sexist to choose one female over another? Please, elaborate.
3. Degrees don't mean much in writing. Bri has inherent talent.
Well Bob - that just shows that Ian's right then. If you would write properly, you wouldn't need to spell it out by telling us 3 times.
How do you know Bri is a woman? In the UK, most folks that I know with the name Bri would be men.
No offence to Bri, but it's not often you can pick up talent from a blog comment. And I didn't notice anything in that particular comment that made me think - "Wow, Waugh has been reborn."
Mrs Micah's comment was brilliant though. And I happen to know she's an excellent writer, as I read her blog.
Ian - you should do another post: Repeating Themselves Thrice: The Trials of The Misunderstood Non-Bloggers.
Cath-
I assure you, I am a girl. Well, as far as I'm aware.
And so your point that Bob is being sexist is now useless. Not that it made any sense before, but we'll disregard that for now.
I myself have a blog that Bob reads and comments on regularly, so no, it's not just by my pathetic attempt at a blog comment that makes him think I'm a good writer. I'll leave whoever visits my blog up to decide if I'm up to their par or not.
Also, when Cath said that Bob was a bad writer because he had to tell you THREE TIMES that he was a righty, I decided something else needed to be said.
I don't understand how YOU not reading the comments properly justifies him as a bad writer. Seriously, even if he didn't use proper grammar or sentence structure, even if he SUCKED at writing (which he does not), I think the phrase "I am a righty" should speak for itself. So nice try, but don't blame him for your selective vision.
And for the record... I'm not trying to be Waugh or any other great writer in history. I'm just trying to be Bri. Who is a girl, just to be clear. Because who knows it you'll actually read this before replying angrily.
My, my!
Love, peace and harmony!
Creativity is also to do with whether you are a morning person or an evening.
Those who wake earlier are far more creative. It's a bit like re-booting your PC - it performs better when it's just switched on.
Cath talks about waking early, and produces great, thought-provoking blog articles as a result.
People who have evening bias, i.e. they stay up late reach their creative peak when they lack the resources. A bit like a PC switched on for a few days where the memory is a little cluttered.
I have this awful feeling. Is there a chance some of the commenters are taking this seriously?
I just had a moment of doubt there.
Anyway, I realise everyone is busy and doesn't have enough time to read between the lines. So I'll state again that this whole blog post is a joke and while I encourage ironic commentary with as much mock irateness, please make sure you truly don't feel that if anyone comments again!
Hi Bri - maybe it's a cultural thing. With regard to Bob's comments, I thought he was having a laugh - the same as we were. It was either that - or he had to be some sort of fruitloop.
And I have no idea where you get the idea I was angry. I think the whole thing is bloody hilarious.
Still - sense of humour or not, it's nice that you and Bob came along to support Ian's comments competition. But don't get too upset that you didn't win.
I think the prize was just a left handed eraser or something, so it would have been no use to you anyway.
Hi Ian - thanks for the comparison to a rebooted PC. I used to be a night person, but as you say, it really helps to wake up with a clutter free mind.
Seriously though - I thought everyone understood that this was just a joke, which is why i was so cheeky to Bob. I hope he wasn't taking it seriously. Maybe you have another one of those left handed erasers you could give him
as a consolation prize? I know he's a righty, but he could adapt to it.
Cath,
I'm hoping the commenters think it's a joke. Most have. When it was stumbled there were some great comments indicating people understood it's a joke.
The thing which made me think they were possibly serious is that they're not identifying their own blogs. This usually indicates they don't want any retaliatory comments.
I'm hoping most people see that on this blog, I've mostly talked about the topic on the banner at the top.
I've actually got a left-handed banana on my desk right now.
That takes an awful lot of genetic engineering to grow those. They're expensive, but worth it.
Maybe left-handed bananas as a prize with real value?
I get very much into my debates, because I love debating. Period.
I'm not having a laugh, but nothing on this page enters into my life outside it. Just another online debate.
Left handed eraser for best right handed comment? It'd be as useful to any other righty as it would to the current winner...
I'm not afraid of retaliation. I just don't really have a blog... Not everyone does...
LMAO! This is crazy hilarious! I've been in stitches and nearly fell off my chair.
I think there are a few commenters who have totally misconstrued this post. Not sure how that could happen . . . ? Seems pretty tongue in cheek to me. Maybe some people are not only "left-hand challenged" but lacking in the humor department as well.
I am one of those ambidextrous people - I eat/write/whatever with whichever hand happens to be closest. I do hold a baseball bat like a lefty, though. My mom's a lefty as is my son and several other people in my family. Most of them are fairly creative.
I found this from Cath Lawson's blog, btw.
Great post! I'm still laughing. ;-)
~ Annie
Bob,
Understood. Debating is a great hobby. And also, it's far easier to come up with a counter-argument on others' blogs, than engage in your own original material. At least it protects you from counter-arguments which may upset you.
Annie,
Thanks for dropping by. Glad you enjoyed the joke.
Do they have left-handed baseball bats?
LOL, Ian!
Baseball bats are pretty much all shaped the same. Now, mitts, those are different for righties and lefties. ;-)
~ Annie
Annie,
Now I kind of guessed, even though I'm from the UK that baseball bats were pretty round and therefore okay for any hand.
Do you mean oven mitts?
That's where I'm going wrong. When I have them on playing baseball, I can never hit the darned ball.
Ian,
Hmmm . . . oven mitts, eh? LOL.
That's too funny. ;-) Paints a pretty interesting picture. I'll have to try that sometime . . .
~ Annie
Annie,
Let me know how you get on. Better still, video it and post it on YouTube!
Oh I bet my family would have fun with that one. ;-) Maybe we could get the kids to wear them, too.
~ Annie
Annie,
Great! I'll keep checking on YouTube (comedy section?)
I'm not guarding myself against rebuttals that go against anything I would put in my blog. I actually prefer to debate about things that I put forward first.
I just... don't... have... a blog. Seriously.
As far as the baseball thing, my input is thus:
Training basesball (for catching with oven mitt, you know, a regular one could sting a little)
Bob,
I am so sorry it has taken me this long to answer.
Being semi left-handed, I often struggle to contain those creative tendencies which have me running off on tangents - usually to assist right-handed people with their own short-comings.
I fully appreciate your need to debate. And I now know that you don't have a blog.
In many respects you are right not to. If you did, you'd have to create debates which puts you at the centre of the matter, and therefore vulnerable and exposed to counter-arguments you can't as easily dive away from.
Being a flitter, you can deftly start debates and exit without any judgement.
It is a great hobby and one to enjoy. It's shame you are slightly held-back by the right handedness.
In all seriousness though Bob, I've really enjoyed your contribution to this post. Okay I've had my tongue in cheek in pretty much everything I've said - including this answer.
I suspect we'd actually get on great in the real world, and I'd love to buy you a beer if you're ever over in the UK.
You may not believe this after everything I've said, but there is really no such thing as left/right hand prejudice over here. My best friends are right-handed and far more intelligent and creative than I.
Love, peace, harmony...
I'm seeing a little self-contradiction in that comment.
You claim to have to prejudice, and yet in the same post you spoke of right-handed "shortcomings" and of my being "held back" by right-handedness.
Regardless, I would have my own blog if I wasn't so lazy. I'm a flitter not by nature but by convenience.
By the way, I don't drink. For one, I'm seventeen and living in America. Also, I do not plan on ever drinking. Except fro the occasional glass of wine on special occasions, of course.
Hmmm... Classic of you undermen.
I see this as a case of reversed-prejudice. When one side who is cast out of society is finnaly accepted in, they will be quiet for a while, for fear of being cast out again. But then, they will turn on those who were prejudiced againsted them, and claim that those people are in fact the worst off!! Why do people always have to have a reason to be better than others? If you think you are better, find a better reason than what hand you use. Or rather, keep 'em coming, because they sure make me laugh and cheer me up on rainy days like these.
Note: I am lefty. Or righty. Both, really, it depends on what mood i'm in.
Note: My spelling sucks and I know it. Please don't point this out to me.

I guess Smolderthorn-Horde wow gold Labor Day and Memorial Day are the two biggest Smolderthorn-Alliance wow gold ones -- maybe all of the NPCs could take a day off, there could be giant barbeques set up in the capital cities, or players could take a day to Skywall-Horde wow gold remember those fallen in the past wars. Or you could go another route and just makeSkywall-Alliance wow gold up your own holiday: Grumpyfool of Azjol-Nerub recommends Gnome Appreciation Week (a whole week?), Skullcrusher-Horde wow gold where Azeroth's shortest denizens can get some love of their own. A more recently based holiday might be fun, too -- Skullcrusher-Alliance wow gold maybe once a year we could remember
